About Parandjah Travels
I’m Marsha Rowe, based in Kingston, Jamaica. I write every guide on this site.
I’ve travelled alone to six countries — Trinidad, Paris, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, and Cape Town — staying in $25-50-a-night motels the whole way. Before this I worked as a journalist, which is probably why I can’t write a travel guide that says a place is “affordable” without showing you the actual numbers.
Most travel content stops at “budget-friendly.” These guides tell you which district is cheaper but still walkable, whether the express airport bus is worth the fare, and when something genuinely isn’t worth buying.
Our Story
Parandjah Travels is built around what I call the Anti-Bucket List — the places that give you what you actually wanted from the famous destination, usually for less.
Budapest instead of Paris. Zanzibar instead of the Maldives. Not the cheap version, but genuinely different places that happen to cost less and are usually better for the crowds you avoid.
The guides are for people who’d rather know what a trip really costs than be told it’s “affordable.” Which neighbourhood is quieter for the same price. Which of two famous attractions is actually worth paying for. What the whole week comes to.
